It’s a local derby of sorts, but a friendly match with the emphasis very much on the friendly.
The newly rebranded Yeovil Town Women FC will be taking on AFC Bournemouth Ladies on Wednesday August 14.
The match is at Dorchester Town FC at 7.45pm.
The fixture cements the links between Yeovil and Bournemouth and has been set up by Yeovil owner and former Cherries chairman Adam Murry and AFCB’s Steve Cuss.
Steve Cuss said “We are really looking forward to the game, which will prove to be a big challenge for our players as we prepare for the start of our season. Working closely with Adam Murry and Yeovil Town over the Summer has been mutually beneficial and this friendly game is a great way to celebrate the relationship between the two Clubs”
It will be the final friendly before the start of the new season the following Sunday.
Adam said: “In view of my past links with AFCB it seemed like a great idea for us to arrange a match. We want to continue a really strong and mutually beneficial relationship between the two clubs. We are very much looking forward to the game.”
Yeovil’s pre-season has started incredibly well and it’s looking positive for the season ahead.
Ticket prices for the AFCB game will be offered at a discounted price of £3 for adults with children getting in for free.
Adam added: “We have a big fan base in Dorchester and it’s not too far from Bournemouth, so I am delighted we can play the game there. The team will be very familiar with the ground!”
