MATCH REPORT: Yeovil Town Women FC v Cardiff City Ladies FC

Yeovil returned home for the first time under interim Head Coach Phil Hubbard who made one change to the starting team that drew against Watford. Jodie Chubb came into the back line.

It took Yeovil timme to settle in to the game as a defensively organised Cardiff side demonstrated why they haven’t been
conceding many this season so far. For much of the half it was a midfield battle that Yeovil couldn’t work their way
through and instead gifted possession back to Cardiff.

Yeovil’s first chance came through a quick counter with Kelly Aldridge and Meesha Dudley-Jones combining only for Aldridge
to find the Cardiff’ keeper rather than the ball as it was delivered in.

It should have been the home side that opened scoring with Sarah Wiltshire brought down in the box but unfortunately
the striker skipped past the post with O’Sullivan diving the wrong way. Cardiff gained control of the game after this with
a disallowed goal for offside and an eventual opener. Yeovil gave the ball away cheaply out wide and Cardiff quickly fired

HALF-TIME: Yeovil Women FC 0 – 1 Cardiff City Ladies FC

Yeovil almost got a leveller early in the half with Aldridge firing a shot towards the top corner but O’Sullivan did excellently
to get her finger tips to it. The possession of the ball for Yeovil was much improved second half but couldn’t create
the opportunities needed. The game was brought level with little under 20 minutes left as from a corner Aldridge’s shot
was blocked but Katie Jones expertly picked up the second ball lifted the ball over the defender and fired home from six
yards out.

As has been the case in many games this season Yeovil finished strongly. Wiltshire should have scored as the home side
carved open Cardiff but the final shot when one on one was straight at O’Sullivan. Again Yeovil broke forward with the
front line of Dudley-Jones, Wood, Williams, and Wiltshire causing issues with their dynamic running. The foursome
combined and with Wood on the edge of the 18 yard box her fierce strike agonising fizzed just over.
